Sonia Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi-Her life and Politics
Sonia Gandhi has recently celebrated her 63rd birthday. Sonia Gandhi is known as a shrewd politician and successor of mother-in-law Indira Gandhi. She singe-handedly helped Congress to gain majority in 2004 when BJP was not only absolute favourite to win for the second time but nobody thought that Congress had a chance at all. All the opinion polls and exit polls confirmed this. But Sonia thought othewise and the result was also different from what the people thought. That was just the begining. She gave her masterstroke by refusing the post of the prime minister and after that, rest was history. Here are some little known sides of Sonia Gandhi:
* She prepares excelent red chilli oil, a base for salad dressing. Early in her marriage, she used to make pasta for mother-in-law Indira.
* One month after her marriage, when her mom was returning Italy, Indira send a note to her: Hi Sonia, this is just to tell you that we all love you. That won Sonia's heart.
* In early days of her marriage, she used to travel a lot on Delhi road behind her husband Rajib on Lambretta Scoter.
* They used to wander around India Gate for ice cream.
* Sonia is fond of handloom sarees, traditional waves.
*She did an Art Restoration Course from National Gallery of Modern Art.
* Sonia is fond of cleanliness, does dusting herself before imortant meeting.
* She is fond of books, has lots of those in her residence.
* She does yoga. Takes no junk food. Coffee and orange juice are her favourite.

Single Motherhood is Increasing, Single Motherhood - is it Good for the Society
Single motherhood is a widely accepted system in western country. Of late, in our country also, the number of single, financially independent women, who are opting for adoption instead of relying on marriage to become 'mommies' are growing. Actress Sushmita Sen, who set the trend by adopting daughter Renee in 2000, is also reportedly planning to adopt a second child . Most of the country's adoption agencies - (only Church-run centre does not allow single parent adoption) - have an average of two single women on each of their waitlists. "There is a dramatic rise in demand. Two years ago, we just had two to three single women enrolling across adoption agencies in a year," said authority from one of the Adoption Coordination Agency, which oversees adoption in the city. The number of enquiries are higher than actual enrolment. "We have been getting two to three enquiries from single women every month this year as compared to one or two enquiries per year in the past" said the corrospondent from a city based adoption agency. In past one year, adoption agencies have also received calls from single men but none have registered so far.

Global Warming- Copenhagen Conference, Global Warming-agreement at Copenhagen Conference
The world should at least halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 with rich nations taking the lead, according to a first draft text on Friday seeking to break deadlock on a new climate pact at U.N. talks.
The 7-page document omits figures for how many billions of dollars the rich nations should give developing nations to help them shift to green energies and cope with the impact of global warming, such as desertification and rising sea levels. "Parties shall cooperate to avoid dangerous climate change," according to one text, proposed by Michael Zammit Cutajar of Malta, who chairs talks on long-term action by all nations at the Dec. 7-18 meeting on a new climate pact in Copenhagen. The text offers a range for global cuts in greenhouse gas emissions at least 50, 85 or 95 percent by 2050 from 1990 levels. More than 110 world leaders will attend a closing summit on Dec. 18. The numbers were bracketed, showing there is no agreement. The text also offered options for rich nations' cuts in emissions starting at 75 percent and ranging to more than 95 percent below 1990 levels by 2050. Yvo de Boer, head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, said the documents marked a "step change" in the negotiations. "It's time to focus on the bigger picture," he told reporters. Developing nations led by China and India have in the past rejected signing up for a halving of world emissions by 2050 unless rich nations first take far tougher action to cut their emissions and provide funds to help the poor. "We are still considering the text," said Kemal Djemouai, an Algerian official who chairs the group of African nations. Alden Meyer, of the Union of Concerned Scientists, said there were huge gaps in the text. "I don't think developing countries will accept a global goal for 2050 without more on long-term funding," he said. But he said it was a good basis for future work. The text said developed nations should cut their emissions on average by at least 25-40 percent, ranging up to about 45 percent by 2020, also from 1990 levels. The U.N. panel of climate scientists gave a scenario in 2007 that developed nations would have to cut emissions by 25-40 percent by 2020 to have a chance of limiting the worst of global warming such as floods, heatwaves and dust storms. But offers on the table so far by recession-hit developed nations total only about 14-18 percent by 2020 from 1990 levels. The text said developing nations, which say they need to emit more to help curb poverty, should either make a "substantial deviation" to slow the growth of their emissions by 2020, or slow the growth by 15-30 percent below projected levels by 2020. "The text provides a basis to make the right political decisions," said Kim Carstensen, head of the WWF global climate initiative. "It contains many gaps, exposes rifts but also clearly shows that an agreement is possible."Now the real decisions have to be made. This will give a boost to finalizing an agreement next week by the 110 heads of government," said Jake Schmidt of the Natural Resources Defense Council.Lets hope for the best.

Restaurant to Dine Out on Christmas, Restaurant to Dine Out on New Year
Years end with Christmas Celebration and starts with New Year Festival. This one week long period is the time when we want to enjoy. We go out for long drives or picnic, or we go out for dinner with our relatives or friends. We can suggest you some places where its really worth to dine out.
1. Bukhara, New Delhi
Bukhara is, without a doubt, the most famous restaurant in India, and it has been visited by an untold number of celebrities and heads of state. Until recently, London-based Restaurant magazine considered it Asia's very best restaurant. Set up in 1977, the restaurant serves food from the North West Frontier province, a region known for its rugged terrain and simple but delicious cuisine. The food is mostly grilled and cooked with minimal spices. You are expected to eat with your fingers, though you can always ask for cutlery, and the restaurant will provide you with a lovely red-and-white apron to ensure that you don't mess up your clothes. Die-hard Bukhara fans return time and again for the Bukhara dahl, lentils cooked lovingly with tomatoes, spices and butter, and sikandari raan, a whole leg of baby lamb that has been marinated for hours with spices such as cumin and cinnamon before being grilled in the tandoor to perfection.

2. Indigo, Mumbai
A host of international celebrities, including Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, have walked through the doors of Indigo, making it one of the hottest restaurants in the city. Housed in a lovely colonial bungalow, the restaurant and bar are as chic as its clientele, and the food is excellent. Owned by renowned restaurateur-chef Rahul Akerkar, Indigo serves creative modern European cuisine infused with Indian influences. Dishes to try include the celebrated lobster risotto with black olive tapenade, fenugreek-spiced tuna loin with shiraz and clove reduction, and the juniper berry-cured tandoori chicken with burnt garlic oyster sauce. Dinner reservations are essential.

3. Thai Pavilion, Mumbai
Its quietly plush and soothing decor topped by consistently impeccable service and food are all part of Thai Pavilion's draw. What this restaurant excels in are the staples like phad Thai, tom yum soup, raw papaya salad, and steamed fish. The pla rad prik (fish in chilli) is also a winner. Besides its list of classic Thai dishes, there is also a wide selection of vegetarian options to choose from. Reservations are recommended if you're angling for a table, but not necessary for the bar counter area.
Taj President Hotel; 90 Cuffe Parade

4. Oh! Calcutta, Mumbai
With branches in Kolkata, New Delhi, Pune and Bangalore, Oh! Calcutta is all about reintroducing the nostalgic cuisine of Kolkata to diners. The Mumbai outlet is easy to spot, with an iconic hand-pulled rickshaw displayed outside the restaurant. Fresh seafood from Cochin and Mumbai, as well as river fish and crustaceans from Kolkata, are the main highlight here. Zoom in on the hilsa marinated in a robust mustard and green chilli paste then steamed in a banana leaf. Other stellar offerings include spiced crab cakes steamed in banana leaf, the coconut-based prawn malai curry, or any of the fried fish dishes.
Hotel Rosewood; Tulsiwadi Lane, Tardeo

5. Swagath, New Delhi
Its decor and ambience are unremarkable, but Swagath dishes up some of the best seafood in the city. It's certainly worth braving the grungy Defence Colony Market area for a taste of its speciality squid in butter pepper garlic or fish marinated in Mangalorian spices and cooked in a tamarind chilli paste. The tender pesawari barrah kebabs (tandoor lamb chops), spicy South Indian Chettinad curries and deep fried pomfret are good too. There is a Chinese menu as well, with chicken, lamb, seafood and vegetable dishes, as well as fried rice and noodles. But it's the Indian cuisine you'll want to wait in line for.

Nano Getting Its New Face, Tata Nano- Its New Look
Less than a year after the launch of the Nano , rumour is that the car is going to have a new look and is even getting an exterior facelift. Talks of an electric version of the Nano have been in the air for a while now, but reports said Ratan Tata, chairman of Tata Motors told a South Korean newspaper about his interest to make his dream project join the environmental-friendly trend. However, the chairman did not elaborate on the possible deadline for the launch of the cheap hybrid versions.
At the 63rd annual general meeting of the company in Mumbai, the chairman had hinted at the subject and talked about the progressing work at the company on alternate fuel technology, including hybrids. He said that they are working on an eco-car in Thailand, electric vehicles and hybrids. The company also talks about use of bio-diesel and ethanol across Tata companies. Tata had also talked about a car project the company is working on with a France company, which will run on compressed air. He, however, expressed doubt about the project, saying that it may or may not be possible. Till October, the company has delivered 10,518 nanos in the market. The Nano delivery had started in July this year. Public is eagerly waiting for their dream car.
Munnar Travel- Kerala, Munnar Tours and Travel
Munnar is situated at a distance of 70 km from Idukki is 1600 meter above the sea level. This hill station was once the summer resort of the British Government in South India. Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make Munnar a popular resort town. Munnar actually means the 'Three Rivers' and its name derived from the three-mountain stream, Muthirapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala. The confluence of these rivers is at the heart of the town and they fulfill all the water requirements of the town.
Munnar-destination : Munnar is an ideal destination for a peaceful vacation. It offers a lot to the visitors in terms of sight seeing as there are lots of tourist attractions including the lakes, dams, wild life sanctuaries and tea and spice plantations. Munnar has a number of small and big waterfalls and its great to walk through spectacular nature. The tea gardens are interspersed with cardamom plantations. A combination that lends an unique aroma to the crisp mountain air.
Munnar has many interesting places around it for those who want to explore . Sixteen kilometres from Munnar is the Iravikulam National Park, the perfect place to see the rare but almost tame Nilgiri Tahr. The highest peak in South India, the Anai Mudi (2695 m) also forms a part of this park. The more adventurous can visit the nearby Mattupetty Dam where a six seater motorboat can be hired for Rs.200/- for half an hour. The Singakundam forest is also nearby. A 32 km steep climb took me to Top Station on Kerala's border with Tamil Nadu. Top Station offers exhilarating views over the ghats and the plains below.
Places to visit :
Mattupetty :Is famous for its highly specialized Diary Farm - the Indo-Swiss live stock project.

Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor- Carrying the Famous Kapoor Khandan in Bollywood
This is one of those rare times in the bollywood film industry when two youngsters from the same family are among the top rated stars in the industry. We are talking about Kareena Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, the two icons of the famous Kapoor khandaan.
The trend was started by Karisma Kapoor, who became the first Kapoor woman to act. Of course, recenty, Neetu Kapoor too is making a comeback of some sorts to movies as she has made a minor appearance in 'Love Aaj Kal'. There is said to be another film in the making which will also cast Neetu opposite her husband. Karisma Kapoor was the first to start the trend and she was followed by younger sister Kareena, who made her debut with J. P. Dutta's 'Refugee'. And now after so many years, their male cousin Ranbir Kapoor has made his debut in films as well. Going by the craze generated by his recent movie 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani', the actor has definitely slayed the opposition and emerged as the frontrunner among the younger group of actors. There is more yet to come from this young Kapoor lad, who has Shimit Amin's 'Rocket Singh Salesman of the Year', Prakash Jha's 'Rajneeti'. Karisma Kapoor may have retired and settled into domesticity, but her sister is making great strides in her career. Kareena is now enjoying the best period in her life. She is settled in a very happy relationship of late and is working in films like 'Kurbaan' opposite Saif Ali Khan and '3 Idiots' opposite Aamir Khan. She has been working with the best in the industry and continues to get the best of films under big banners and reputed directors. For a family that has been in in bollywood film industry for four generations, these two have certainly done their grandfather, Raj Kapoor and great grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor proud. Who knows, they may actually revive the R. K. banner as well. We are eagerlt waiting!

Dating Tips From Michelle Obama, Michelle Obama and Dating
Giving exclusive dating tips, US first Lady Michelle Obama has urged women to look not only for good looks and settle for a man with a good heart also. "Cute's good. But cute only lasts for so long and then it's: "Who are you as a person? That's the advice I would give to women -- don't look at the bankbook or the title. Look at the heart. Look at the soul," said Michelle, who is married to President Barack Obama for the past 17 years. The 45-year-old mother of two warned women against marrying somebody who doesn't make you completely happy and make you feel complete. Always look at how the guy treats his mother and what he says about women. How he acts with children he doesn't know. And, more important, how does he treat you? When you're dating a man, you should always feel good, advised Michelle. She also spoke of the qualities which drew her towards her husband. The couple, who have two daughters, met in 1989 while working in her native Chicago at a law firm. She commented about Barac Obama "He was always special, you know? And not special like: He's gonna be important, he's gonna be president. He was special in terms of his honesty, his sincerity, his compassion for other people," Thats how your partner should be!!

Are Indian Women Ready to Bare, Beachwear for Indian Woman
Very few Indian woman wear a swimsuit on the beach while eithers wore salwar kameez or saris. This was despite the many Indian designers who are launching chic beach and resort wear collections. When designers Rina Dhaka, Sanchita, Hemant-Nandita, Ranna Gill, Parvesh-Jai, Ashima-Leena showcased flowing floral gowns, dresses, kaftans, swimsuits, bikinis on the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) ramp, former beauty queen-turned-actress Gul Panag felt it was a waste. "So much beachwear! One would be forgiven for thinking this is Ibiza not India! Really, what is the percent of ladies hitting the beach here?" Gul, who was appointed as the Twitter face of WIFW, posted on the micro-blogging site. According to Hemant of young designer duo Hemant and Nandita, while resort wear is catching up among Indian women, beachwear will take time to pick up in the country. "Beachwear is getting popular among designers, but its sales won`t pick up in India very soon. There aren`t too many beaches here in our country and women are still conscious about wearing such clothes in India unlike abroad where it is considered mainline. But this time our resort wear has got a good response from Indian stores like Ogaan and Aza," Hemant commented. While resort wear consists of casual and loose kaftans, sarongs, skirts and light evening gowns to wear on a holiday, beachwear comprises sheer dresses, swimsuits, bikinis, hot pants et al. Despite the growing manufacture of these clothes, it is mainly bought by people from Europe and the Middle East -- especially from Switzerland, Kuwait and Bahrain, said Hemant. "There is a lot of demand for resort wear in local markets, especially for kaftans and tunics with floral prints. We add stonework and beadwork to it to add a little Indian touch to these clothes and customers are readily buying these because they are easy attires. Our resort line starts around Rs.1,500," said a young designer. Parvesh-Jai, another designer duo, started with couture six years ago and gradually shifted to resort wear owing to the growing demand internationally. Now they have begun to sense the demand for such clothes in India as well. "When we started, India was not ready for such clothes and the market was very niche. Now with the changing lifestyle of people and thanks to super rich people who love to holiday, resort wear has become popular in India too. But I would say the country is still not ready for beachwear," said Jai. "Although young girls are comfortable in swimwear, most women here still prefer full swimsuits rather than a two-piece bikini set," he added. Looking at the many Bollywood movies that released this year and the number of actresses who flaunted sexy bikinis in those movies, one may think that the Indian audience has accepted skin show. But in the real world, very few dare to bare!

Twittering : Can It Change The Way One Writes Book, New Technique of Writing a Book : Twittering
A Scottish author has named Peter Urpeth found a rather difficult way to write his new book-by posting each sentence on the micro-blogging website Twitter. He began posting his novel, 'MacKenzie's Issue', on the website, 140 characters a time.
"He was my father, that's all, and I was elsewhere at the time of his passing," The Scotsman quoted the first posting as saying.
And 21 minutes later, he posted the second extract, which said: "I am uncertain of the exact day and date on which he died. On reflection, I am not too sure even of the year. But I know that it was summer."
The novel tells the story of the strange life of the last son of an obscure branch of the Clan MacKenzie and is set on Scotland's northwest coast and in the Outer Hebrides.
Going by the pace of one tweet a day, it could take him close to 14 years to complete the novel, given that the average book is 80,000 words long and there are roughly 16 words per line.
Explaining his decision to tweet his latest book, Urpeth said: "As a novelist, I am intrigued by the opportunities, challenges and limitations the digital world generates, and I want to explore and experience new digital media from the viewpoint of a writer of long fiction."
"My new novel will be written tweet by tweet with an undertaking by me to add at least one new tweet section every day until the end is reached and the archive of tweets will remain accessible so that new readers can catch-up at any time. Normally, as a novelist writing and publishing in the traditional manner, the book would be finished and have gone through countless revisions before being exposed to a readership. This one is published as it is written."
It is new at the point of every tweet, and he also aims to reflect on and respond to feedback from readers. One immediate challenge is to make sentences that have economy, and which work within the limitations of the 140-character maximum.
Though this is not a totally new idea - tweet novels have been posted before, and some have been bought-up and subsequently published in traditional form. So this is also an exploration of digital marketing for writers, and maybe a new way of reading or experiencing fiction, too.

Bipasha Basu is out of Maniratnam's Raavan, Aishwarya in Bipasha out
Maniratnam's latest film Raavan is going through a rough time. Cast problem, crew problem, and weather problem also. His cinematographer Manikandan is ill and opted out of the film. Maniratnam has asked Santosh Siven to take charge. Siven, who made Dil Se for Mani, agreed but on one condition only. He wil reshoot the portion( shoot by Manikandan) he didn't like. The weather is not helping either. Abhishek and Ash went for shooting outdoor but returned at the end of the day without a single shot being taken because of heavy rain. Next, Bipasha Basu is out of the film. Remour is that she is out because otherwise Ash's character is losing importance. Another remour is that she cannot deliver what Mani wanted from her. Bipasha said the matter is amicably settled and all are happy. Well, we certainly don't!

Who is at The Top of Advertisement Industry, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- the Premier Couple of Bollywood
Bollywood is full of rumours that golden couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have charged a whopping Rs 25 crore to appear in an ad for a beauty soap that Ash already endorses.
Father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam Kapoor have apparently charged Rs 15 crore for their very first ad together for a pen brand. Advertising gurus, however, have shot down the figures as "impossible" in the current economic situation. Prahlad Kakkar says, "25 crore! Ash charges Rs 4.5 crore for international brands and Rs 2 crore for Indian ones." He adds, "If they're getting Rs 25 crore for an ad, it better be steamy - both need to be in the same bath tub, minimally dressed, and Abhishek needs to wax his chest. The ad should lead to a debate in Parliament and the country should come to halt for a month." Celeb manager Sonu Lakhwani says, "This figure is exaggerated given the state of the ad industry. For a one minute ad, no brand would pay such an amount, no matter who the celebrity is." Though Anil is basking in the glory of Slumdog Millionaire, experts say he still can't get Rs 15 or even 10 crore for an ad, even if paired with his daughter. Sonam charges around Rs 1.5 crore for an ad and even if we add Anil's Slumdog charm, it still wouldn't touch 10 crore. So, everybody keep guessing!
